About the garden

Blueberry Fields started feeding the families sponsored by Home Suite Hope in 2016. The Community Garden occupies 5,000 sq. ft. a the back of Upper Oakville Shopping Centre, directly behind One Health Club. It has 16 raised beds of approximately 150 sq. ft. each with pathways throughout. The garden uses only composted manure as fertilizer and utilizes natural methods for pest and weed control. Blueberry Fields was the brainchild of long time site Superintendent, Ken Stockstill. The idea arose after the owner of the shopping centre approached us about adding garden plots in the vacant area. Instead of allocating a plot to a handfull of neighbours, we came up with the idea of partnering with a local charity to provide them with fresh produce, grown by Ken a growing number of dedicated volunteers, including corporate groups wanting to give back.
